SPACE 101

A weekly space by and for Hudson teens.

Fridays 4pm - 7pm
Ages 14 and up
Free. Donations welcome!

Space 101 is a space for teenagers in Hudson to have as their own. It is by and for teens: with the guidance of Claire Cousin, a core group of teenagers will work together to run Space 101, learning to design programs, facilitate conversations, and maintain a youth-led community space.

Space 101 is a place where teenagers can have open dialogue about issues around the world, in Hudson, and in their lives. It’s a place where teenagers can develop the skills to organize for social change, learn how to structure their own time, and where they will be encouraged and provided with the tools to follow their own interests.

Our goal is to support young people in developing meaningful and supportive relationships, in becoming leaders within their own lives and communities, and in creating youth networks across the region and around the world. Space 101 stems from the demands of participants of this summer's Social Justice Leadership Academy, and their desire for a space where young people in Hudson can continue to organize and take action as advocates for themselves and their communities.

This is a club, which is different from a regular Kite's Nest workshop. If you're interested in being a part of the club, get in touch: email us at hello@kitesnest.org. Space 101 is run by Claire Cousin. Born and raised in Hudson, Claire is a passionate advocate and organizer for youth in Hudson, working to give young people growing up here support and mentorship to reinforce their purpose and passions. Claire is an  Education Mentor with the Hudson Promise Corps (Americorps), Chair of the Youth & Young Adult Committee of the Staley B. Keith Social Justice Center, a Family Team Meeting Facilitator with the NYS Office of Children & Family Services, and a member of the Columbia County Youth Advisory Board. Claire is also a singer, poet, and a mom
