summer social justice leadership academy

A five-week summer program for youth ages 13-21

July 5 - August 8, 2019

What is the Social Justice Leadership Academy? Launched in 2014, the Social Justice Leadership Academy is an immersive summer leadership program for Hudson teenagers, combining transformative political education and hands-on arts programming to support youth in developing their visions and voices for change. Over the course of five weeks, youth develop tools for identifying their own strengths, collaborate to express their ideas, build meaningful relationships of trust and mutual support, learn real leadership skills, and connect with inspiring people and organizations. SJLA’s mission is to support the creative power, political analysis, collective leadership and joy of young people in our community, especially youth of color, immigrant youth, queer youth, and court-involved youth. SJLA continues throughout the school year as a weekly after school space for teenagers, called Space 2.0.
