Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, Fall 2020 afterschool classes were held entirely outdoors at our urban garden classroom and in small groups.
SOCIAL JUSTICE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
Transformative political education, arts, and healing to build a more just world. Ages 13+
We have turned our summer Social Justice Leadership Academy (SJLA) into a year-round after school program for teens. SJLA is an essential space for teens to gather, connect, grieve, heal, learn, play and organize. It combines political education, hands-on arts programming, and land-based healing to support the creative power, collective leadership and joy of young people in our community, including youth of color, immigrant youth, queer youth, low-income and court-involved youth.
REGEN TEENS
Supporting teens as leaders and educators in environmental justice & food security. Ages 13+
Our ReGen Teens program engages, trains, and employs Hudson teens as environmental justice leaders. ReGen Teens maintain our River City Garden, run a city-wide youth-run compost business, and work as garden educators and mentors to younger teens. ReGen Teens are part of the JAM collective, a network of Hudson Valley youth in urban agriculture.
