Winter Break Camp: PUPPET PARTY

Monday, February 18 - Friday, February 22: 9:30am - 3:00pm. Ages 8-14.
From sock puppets to giant puppets: building characters, telling stories, and performing arts.

In this week-long camp, we’ll explore the creative world of puppetry. We’ll start small: trying our hand at telling stories with our own sock puppets, shadow puppets, cone puppets, rod puppets and marionettes. We’ll design and construct our own characters, working with a range of materials and found objects to bring them to life, and building sets, props, and mini-installations. We’ll also dive into the art of storytelling: learning to tell stories through plays and scriptwriting, playing acting and improv games, practicing with sound effects and voice-acting, and creating our own spectacles and original performances. Over the course of the week our projects will grow in size, as we design and construct giant puppets and masks that we can wear and parade through the city. With guest teaching artists Molly Allis and Greg Corbino.

Camp fee: $350. Sliding-scale and full scholarships are available for qualifying families. Please request a tuition assistance application to determine your tuition amount or payment plan. Email or fill out this contact form to request an application or for any questions regarding registration.
